Stephen was showing with much success in the Richard Danskin Art Galleries until the gallery closed. Richard Danskin Galleries delighted art lovers with a variety of styles and talented artists. The Richard Danskin Art Gallery was located in Palm Desert California, on what is famously known as the "Rodeo Drive" of the desert. The gallery owners, Geof and Val had a keen eye for art and the gallery showed some of the best artists and their artwork in the west. Some of the paintings sold there were from Stephen's "umbrella" series. A few are shown below.

Original Oil Paintings by Stephen B Dixon
Stephen B. Dixon grew up in Denver , Colorado . He was trained in fine arts at the University of Colorado . His favorite, but not the only style he paints in is minimalist impressionism, incorporating painterly surface texture to his oil on canvas paintings.
He feels this style is akin to comparing the musical intonations of a piano to the organ. “The organ fills the room from wall to wall with sound leaving little for anything else. The piano, when the keys are struck, creates a tone which momentarily fills the room but quickly dissipates requiring the listener to participate and fill the void until the next note is struck,” he says. Stephen feels this art style creates a synergistic relationship with the art and the viewer. The observer becomes part of the art and is drawn into the painting making it their own.
For the same reason, Stephen does not paint faces on the subjects with this style which creates opportunity for the viewer to insert his/her own self or images, creating a personal experience with the painting. Using this technique, Stephen can take a simple thought or visual from everyday life and create an entire emotional experience for the art lover.
Much of the influence in this style comes as result of his studies while inJapan . He spent over five years embedded in Japanese culture and art. While passionate about art, Stephen did not have the luxury of devoting his full attention to painting during those years as he was in Military Intelligence for U.S. military efforts. Sequentially, he spent time expanding his skills and horizons studying landscape oil painting in Alaska . And later the majesty of Yellowstone, the Tetons, Canyonlands and Arches National Parks outside Moab Utah. He further enhanced and developed his skills with multiple stays in Italy and France.
Stephen has also worked for 20 years in construction management for major , multi-million dollar design-build projects.
